Age: 6 mo - 1 yr
Location: Selah WA
Special Needs: none
Oakley is a delightful, female Border Collie, who just turned one year old. Oakley is a sweetheart of a dog! She gets along with all dogs and loves a game of wrestle and chase.
Oakley loves people but she is a shy girl. She needs lots of one on one people attention. She’s housetrained and crate trained. She willingly goes into her crate when asked. Oakley would be best in a home by herself or perhaps one other dog so she can get lots of one on one with her new person(s). She needs leash work as she was never walked or taken anywhere by her former owner. Oakley went to Longbeach with us and she loved the beach, but is not ready for off-leash play. We recommend a good obedience class or two after her initial bonding with you. This will help build a stronger bond and help Oakley learn leash work as well. To continue improving her recall, a fenced yard and leash walks are a must.
Oakley’s quiet in the house but is still just a puppy. Lots of toys scattered everywhere helps keep Oakley from chewing on inappropriate things. We don’t have cats, so we don’t know if she would be good with them, but suspect she would chase them if they ran. Oakley was tested on sheep and has shown interest in herding. With that in mind, she might like novice herding or perhaps agility, but we suspect her interest will be with her people’s activities. She’s an active girl and a family that enjoys outdoors play would be ideal for her.
Oakley weighs about 35 pounds and is standard Border Collie size. She is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines including rabies.
If you’d like to meet Oakley, please fill out an on-line application. After completing the application, please contact her foster parents Mike and Marian at firstname.lastname@example.org. Oakley is fostered in Selah WA, which is about the middle of the state. You will need to travel to meet her in her foster home. Oakley’s adoption fee is $175.00 and goes to help pay rescue’s spay, neuter, vaccines and other medical bills for the animals we rescue.
Thank you for thinking rescue and for considering a nice dog like Oakley.
